Thursday in Galway

We got started today heading up through the Connemara region to the Kylemore Abbey. The drive was long but very interesting. We traveled though rocky bogland, pastures of sheep and cattle and got to witness farmers digging peet by hand. The abbey was well worth the long drive. Mom and I helped a resident Benedictine nun pick some flowers for pressing as we walked the grounds. On our way home we visited the marble factory and got a short history lesson on the types and ages of the Ireland marble. Our day ended with a trip down the street to play for the locals. We had a large crowd and the kids were given tips.

Early morning in Galway. I took a long walk and enjoyed the quiet.

A stop along the way
